Sophie Stasio

My process involves creating drawings, impressions, and collages of collected textures as a means of exploring the unique characteristics of organic patterns. I am fascinated with layers both in nature and in art, and I seek to show time through the construction of marks that are later carved or torn away. I enjoy experimenting with alternative surfaces and combining materials such as oil, acrylic, ceramics, charcoal, pastels, and found objects. In creating my work, I hope to bring attention to the beauty of nature through the touch of a human, so that other humans care about it.
