Often rounded, never closed
Elicia Epstein, MFA 2023, Sculpture
Armed with my sharpened tools of art, magic, and mischief, I make work across a broad range of media including sculpture, installation, photo, video, performance, publication, printmaking, collage, and cross-media collaboration. Very often, my projects look like objects, images, and experiences that serve as visual, physical, and spiritual interventions into the world’s dominant logics.
Most recently in my practice, I have sought to leverage world-building and performance as methods of questioning the ways that knowledge and power are enacted through symbols, objects, social relations, and ritual. In this line of research I often find myself asking how do I make art that doesn’t just talk about the thing, but is the thing-- the politic, the world, the idea?
