Book Arts
Book arts is just as much about process as it is about the final product. Understanding this allows one to find the beauty in the making and creating of their ideas while also in the mistakes and the mess ups.The goal for the assignment was for students to create an artist book that allows them to further develop their artistic style and expression by incorporating collage, painting, drawing, and written word. This work is an extension of the person and the pages house personal thoughts, experiences, and objects that make up the artist's identity.

TYL ‘21, Art Education
My name is Julia Sozio, and I am an emerging art educator based in Philadelphia and the surrounding areas. I will receive a Bachelors of Science in Art Education from Temple University Tyler School of Art and Architecture in May 2021. My ultimate goal is to create an environment where students can come to release, express, grounded themselves, and feel safe. I believe in experimentation and moving out of your comfort zone, encouraging students to be their best and to want to be their best, and looking at the students as equals and artists, rather than students. For me, art is about embracing life's imperfections and finding beauty in the "mess ups", and I want to provide students with the opportunity to learn and appreciate this. Anyone can be an artist, and it starts with the individual believing they are capable of anything.
